Day 1 Nov. 18 and Nov. 19 - airplane ride and arrival in Mumbai
Kathy Hickey from Barrhead Alberta, Milla Adams from Doon Kitchener Ontario, and Rob and Sue from Cambridge Ontario left Toronto airport at 8 p.m. for Mumbai (Bombay) India with one stop in Munich Germany. Our flight from Toronto to Munich took a little more than 8 hours and we traveled 4000 miles. We flew with Air Canada and the flight was pleasant. We had good seats and the food and people were ok. We arrived in Munich a little late due to the fog, but the plane landed without a hitch. We only had time to pee, smoke, and board a Lufthansa airline and fly at 37,000 feet, another 7 1/2 hours to India. The Lufthansa plane was much newer and nicer this time, and the food was spectacular. With the latest technology, we landed in Mumbai India 1 hour late at 2 a.m. Monday Nov. 19. Garry, our tour guide from Brantford, was there to great us at the airport and he escorted us to our luxury hotel. We have to get to bed because we begin our tour of Mumbai in the morning. The population here in this one city is 21 million people. It is expected to rise to 40 million by the year 2020 because Mumbai is the business capital of India. The people are moving to this city from all over India for work. Canada is 30 million for the entire country.
