"A Comedy of Errors"
The bus stopped for a washroom break along the route and this "ape god" was watching over us.

Before we left the city of Bengaluru (Bangalore) which is located in south central India, we drove thru’ the high tech section of the city. It reminded us of a hi-tech computer city filled with computer scientists and computer nerds. It is the silicon valley of the East. It was about 10 a.m. when we left the busy city, a 5 hour bus ride through the countryside in order to reach our destination - a small city called Hassan.
Along the way, we stopped at a “Jain” pilgrimage site. Atop a stone hill, we found the statue of Saint Goma ..., created in 982 A.D. In order to stand next to it, we first had to climb the 637 stone steps up to the top of a granite mountain along with many other Jain pilgrims. No shoes allowed! The statue overlooked the beautiful grassy, stony countryside exuding a calm vitality! There were 467 steps back down as well. We took pictures of all the people along the way and Robert, Susan, and Kathy were blessed again today. Unfortunately Robert failed to glow.
Our group continued with the bus ride toward Hassan, stopping a couple of times in small towns to visit 2 very important Hindu temples. The first temple is dedicated to Shiva, the destroyer god, who tried to eliminate all the bad in the world. The second temple took over 100 years to complete and was carved out of soapstone. Vishnu is the protector god. This temple was erected in 1117 A.D. and was a memorial to the King celebrating all his victories in battle. The Hindi people, which is most of India, celebrated life with thousands of gods and Vishnu was probably in the top 3. Check out this link to find out all about Hindi gods ... http://www.usefulcharts.com/religion/main-hindu-gods-chart.html
Our hotel in Hassan was small and rather disorganized. As is typical in India, the power went off a few times. The food choices reflected the Indian culture more. Robert enjoyed the chocolate ice cream and the food was way too spicy for Sue. Milla and Kathy worked out the room problems with Michael and Garry, our leaders.
It was good to finally get to bed.
Important Note of the Day:
Yesterday's hotel, "Lalite", had a spectacular spa which we didn't have time to utilize.
The uniformed and immaculately dressed school children, that we met everywhere, and even the adults, seemed happy and anxious to interact with us in a very positive way. Smiles everywhere!
